Accounting transfers
A page within Business Services
The Accounting team reviews and posts a wide array of financial transactions, including revenue & expense transfers, Inter-department charges, salary transfers, system-wide institutional transfers, and capital equipment transfers on a bi-weekly basis. Timeliness of transfer requests is important to keep balances accurate and current in Workday, and should be submitted within 30 days of the date posted in Workday and prior to fiscal year end deadlines.

FAQ
How long does a transfer take to show up in Workday after I submit a transfer request?
- The accounting team aims to enter and approve all requests in workday within a week of submission, so most will be visible within that timeframe. However, if the task needs approval from other users across campus (typically cost center or driver managers), time to post will depend upon their action and may vary. We encourage users to check their tasks in Workday regularly to help keep transactions moving.
Do all transfer requests go on the same form?
- Yes, all transfer requests are housed in the same file. Please note the distinct tabs that exist within the Transfer Template file. Each tab is designed for a specific type(s) of transfer.
What should be included in the “Reason for Transfer” Summary?
- Please provide a detailed explanation that supports why the funds need to be transferred. Attach all relevant supporting documentation, including ledger details, screenshots, or individual communications. This helps us understand the purpose for the transfer and allows us to determine the most appropriate business process to complete your request.
