Relocation

Due to the demolition of Cowley Hall and construction of Prairie Springs Science Center Phase II, the Physics Department will be temporarily relocated to 339G Wimberly Hall. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Program Goals

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse physics program will be able to:

  1. Understand fundamental concepts of classical and modern physics and apply them in academic and/or engineering-related situations.
  2. Conduct experiments, make careful and accurate measurements using a variety of instruments, and correctly analyze and interpret experimental data.
  3. Use concepts and techniques of advanced mathematics to solve physics problems.
  4. Use computational tools to solve physics problems and to acquire, plot, and analyze data.
  5. Effectively communicate their findings and thoughts, including summarizing scientific concepts and developing ideas/arguments in a logical, organized form using conventional scientific style.
  6. Compete successfully for graduate schools, internships, research positions, and/or jobs. Dual-degree students should succeed upon transfer to their chosen engineering program.
