Danica Lee

Danica Lee, Music student, was a semi-finalist at the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Wisconsin State Student Auditions on Nov. 1 in Milwaukee, WI. Lee was one of only seven singers in her division to advance to the semi-final round of singing. She is a voice student of Dr. Kourtney Austin.

Megan Deml, Melia Fretwell, Josh Smith and Cam Steffen

Megan Deml, Melia Fretwell, Josh Smith and Cam Steffen, all Music students, performed at the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Wisconsin State Student Auditions on Nov. 1 at UW-Milwaukee. Students performed both classical and musical theatre repertoire for the auditions and received adjudication of their performance. Megan, Melia, and Josh are all voice students of Dr. Kourtney Austin. Cam is a voice student of Dr. Stephen Austin.

Jon Ailabouni

Jon Ailabouni, Music, presented a keynote lecture titled "The Spirit is Moving: A Jazz Liturgy of Renewal" at the 9th Annual Phi Beta Kappa Symposium on the Liberal Arts at Luther College in Decorah, IA on Oct. 26. The presentation centered around Ailabouni's newly-composed liturgy that explores the intersection of Lutheran liturgy, jazz traditions, and racial justice ministry. Ailabouni was accompanied by Ellie Hoehne (vocal), Christian Montover (guitar), Michael Van Meter (bass), and Jim Knutson (drums).

Kourtney Austin

Kourtney Austin, Music, presented "A Comprehensive Performing Arts Health Curriculum in the Choral Ensemble: Moving Beyond 'Drink More Water'" at Performing Arts Medicine Association International Symposium on July 20 in London, England. Dr. Austin presented the results of research conducted at UWL on integrating a performing arts health curriculum into the choral rehearsal.
