I grew up here, I learned here, but most importantly, I never fulfilled my mother's nightmares of falling into the river. Thanks UWL for everything, I will forever be an eagle. #SoaringOff #CawCaw
I am so grateful to be a part of the 2020 graduating class despite ending in an unexpected way. Thank you to everyone who has influenced my life during the last four years! Professors, family, and friends - I could not have made it this far without the endless cooperation, support, laughs, and memories. I never thought I would be missing La Crosse, but as Winnie the Pooh said, "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." - Winnie the Pooh
Thank you to everyone that has supported me throughout my college career!
UWL made a huge impact on my life in the best way possible and I will be forever grateful for everyone who helped and supported me during my time there!
I am grateful for educators who not only create opportunities for students to gain experience sharing their passions within a community, but also give detailed feedback to encourage growth and reflection. Thanks to Kelly Sultzbach and Richard Frost, I was inspired to engage students in critical discussions of sustainability and eco-centric empathy. Thanks to Dr. Jesse and Ms. Feldkamp at Logan HS, I have practice engaging students and feedback to reflect on. Lastly, to all my students, I miss you. I feel so lucky to have been your student teacher. Thanks for learning and growing with me. <3

I am very thankful for everyone who has supported me on this journey and feel highly favored to be in this position. I feel lucky to have the support system that I do as a first-generation college student of color. Since I was little, my parents instilled in me the importance and power of having an education. I am very pleased to say that I am a two-time alum of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Congrats to all the May 2020 Grads, WE DID IT!

The last five years of my undergraduate career have been anything but easy. The news cycle grew darker, assignments tougher, and my social life more complex. Throughout the last half-decade there were many times where I was unmoored at the randomness and strife adulthood brings. And yet, with the help of others, I am here. Numerous UWL professors taught me to engage the world with curiosity and hope, not fear and confusion. A fascinating journey awaits, and it must be met with courage. To those who helped me see this: thank you. To future students: face the day with everything you've got.
I am very happy and honored to have had the educational experience I have had at UWL, I have made so many connections through my time at UWL from classmates I have had in classes I have taken and professors that have made my experience enjoyable and memorable at UWL.

I'm thankful for the ways I've grown as a person during my time at UWL. I've learned a lot about who I am and most importantly I've learned that I love people and their stories. Everyone has a different story and it's so beautiful to recognize that and how all the parts of that story contribute to who someone is. It's hard to know where to start--there's so many people deserving of my gratitude. First and foremost I want to thank my family. Without their support, encouragement, and guidance, none of this would be possible. I also want to that the Financial Aid Office for significantly alleviating the financial burdens of school. I likely would have dropped out if not for the encouragement of Andrew Ives in the Office of Student Life--thank you Drew! Will V.R. from the Pride Center gives the best hugs--thank you Will! Thank you to the entire LaX Recovery scene for saving my life. SOC Dept. ya'll ROCK!!
From the first time that I stepped into Reuter Hall where it was full of national flags from all over the world, communicated with my roommates in my green English, to the time that I walked along the school halls and buildings, made tons of presentations, composed many challenging articles, UWL has been accompanied me for three years of four seasons. I not only absorb knowledge here, but also harvest precious friendship, family-like relationship, as well as rich social practical experiences. To me, UWL is not only my Alma mater, but also my second home on the other side of the Pacific Ocean.
A huge thank you to my family, who encouraged me to make it through these last few years, to all of the professors who have helped and taught me along the way, and to my friends who kept me sane. I don’t know what I would have done without such a great support system, and I can’t wait to see where I can take all that I’ve learned at UWL!
This is not how anyone expected the semester to go, but I am still thankful to be graduating. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. I didn't think the day would ever come, but here we are!

I wish I had more than 600 words to describe my experience at UWL. I would also like to say that the music department deserves a concert hall. Without the CFA and the SEMB, I wouldn't have had as great of a college experience as I did. Though I'm not in the music department, I have many fond memories and great friends from there. I would also like to shout out Dr. Kruse, Dr. Delgado, Dr. Driscoll and the whole Sociology department for being exceptional! I have learned so much from these professors, they're amazing! I would like to thank everyone in the School of Education and all my professors that I've had along the way. They've all helped me get to this point. Every single one of them has helped me realize that I belong in a classroom. It has been one crazy ride to get to this point, so I guess it's only fitting that the final semester would end this way. To the other graduates of 2020, good luck and we'll all get a chance to celebrate real soon! Until then, I guess I'll go get a real job now...
The unending support from the Communication Studies department was sensational. The professors I had the pleasure of working with helped me grow as a student, writer, speaker, and person. I am so thankful to know them and to have learned from them. To my family for encouraging me to be excellent and supporting me when I was not, thank you. And to those who stayed up with me during all of the late-night study sessions, you know who you are, thank you, I really could not have done this without you. "Mens Corpusque." This is this university's motto in Latin, which translates over into English as "Mind and Body." This could not be more fitting. During my time at UWL, I have encountered countless opportunities to challenge and improve myself physically and mentally. I leave UWL with the habits and tools to cultivate further success with both Mind and Body, and I have no one but the fine people who make this university great to thank. I would like to thank all of my professors, classmates, and friends who helped me stimulate immense growth and make better memories. "Carpe Diem!"
I want to thank the SAA faculty who have provided a world-class educational experience. My adviser, Dr. Jörg Vianden, for the immense support and encouragement. The MSEd River cohort who, despite being 1,000 miles away, is always there for a good laugh. My friends, especially Amy, Alex, and Gaby (I no longer have the excuse of schoolwork to skip dinner or drinks- yay!). My family: mom, dad, and everyone else for all the support. And finally, my dog Finn who was by my side through every paper and project.
My time here at UWL has truly been amazing and I have met some really amazing people along the way. It's a bittersweet feeling, while I am sad to be leaving my college life behind, I am excited to start my life in the real world. I want to say thank you to my professors, my classmates, my friends, and anyone who has supported me on this journey; I could not have done it without you. WE DID IT! I myself can admit I'm not even sure that this is all real. I have made so many memories during this time in my life and I wouldn't change any of it for the world. The biggest thing college has taught me is that I set my limits if I want something I have everything I need within myself to achieve any goal and I will always be truly thankful for that. To my parents who stood by my side throughout this entire long process thank you I know we weren't always sure we would make it here but we made it and I'm proud to say I'm the first child to do it! Thank you and love you all! Desus Out

A word of gratitude is in order for all the UW-L professors that not only invested in but put up with me, for the friendships that emerged in my time here, and for the guidance and support from counseling staff and other support offices. And shoutout to student orgs BSU and ALANA and the cool things they're continuing to do! Even though the end of the semester looks completely different for us that we had imagined, I know that we are doing the best we can right now and learning to roll with these punches. Looking forward to coming together for commencement. Thank you!
Throughout my time at UWL, I existed within two worlds; one was filled with stories I told on stage. I relived childlike naivety through the character of Fern Arable and fought villains amidst the backdrop of fair Verona. My second world was one I lived in offstage, filled with characters slightly less eccentric but nonetheless integral parts of my undergraduate career. My parents filled this world with possibility, encouraging me to be whomever I wanted. As I venture into another world to write my own story, I want to thank them for letting me explore my potential freely; I love you always.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me on my journey here at UWL! Special shoutout to Greg Ormes and Victoria Calmes for advising me throughout my time here. Congratulations fellow classmates!
“Show up. Show up consistently. Show up consistently with a positive outlook. Be prepared for and committed to the long haul. Cultivate a burning desire backed by faith. Be willing to pay the price. And do the things you’ve committed to doing—even when no one else is watching.” ― Jeff Olson, The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines into Massive Success and Happiness

Above all, thank you to my parents who give me endless love and support. Congratulations to all of the 2020 graduates!
Thanks to all of my family and friends who've helped me get through these past 5 years. The staff and faculty at UWL helped me achieve my dreams, push myself further than I ever thought I could, and encourage me to keep moving forward. UWL has been the best experience of my life, and I'm so grateful for it.
I'm so fortunate for my Bio and Psych professors who provided me with opportunities to grow and excel. They taught me so much and helped me grow as a student and a person. I'm also so thankful for my family for always supporting me in my goals. To my friends: you made my time here a blast and i'll never forget all of our game nights, nights downtown, and of course our many many late nights at the lib.
Thank you so much to all of my family, friends, professors, coworkers, and supervisors for your continued support over the last few years! I have learned so much, especially from my wonderful professors in the Political Science & Public Administration Department. My time at UWL has given me countless awesome opportunities and some of my best friends, and I'm thankful to have made La Crosse my home for the last five years.
Firstly, I'd like to thank my family: special shoutout to my Mom, Lori & Gary, Ben, and my Grandma, for without any of you, I would not have made it this far. Next, I'd like to send my appreciation to the Campus Activities Board and its Advisor, Drea. You've all been like a second family to me, and I greatly appreciate the amount of growth, fun, and love I have experienced from being apart of CAB. Last, but not least, I'd like to mention my roommate, Brennan. Thank you for keeping me sane and being the best roommate/friend I could have asked for these past 3 years! You've got this, Eagles!
Even when life gets uncertain and scary, NEVER GIVE UP!!! Never be afraid to start all over and follow your dreams, whether it's changing your major after 8 semesters, trying to join the swim team after only getting involved in the sport for like 2 years, or dropping out for a bit to try living in Japan after you got there for a TEFL internship. The best part about the all online semester is that you can finish it anywhere. Good luck with your future careers, hopes, and relationships, everyone. Always remember what it means to be an Eagle Lots of love from Tokyo, - Watson (Nicholas Watson)
I couldn't be more grateful for the college experience I had! Thank you UWL for giving me some of the best friends, teachers, coworkers, and years of my life. I'm so proud of the person I have grown into the past four years, and I couldn't have done it without the amazing people who have supported me along the way. I'm sad that I have to say goodbye, but La Crosse will always hold a special place in my heart!
A big thank you to all of my friends and family, especially my mom, grandma, aunts, and uncles who helped me apply for college and encouraged me to keep going when I wanted to quit. In the psych department, I'd like to thank Dr. Sutha for challenging me and helping me grow into the person I am today. I'd also like to thank Dr. Marshik for constantly expressing care, advice, and being a great mentor. Also a shout out to Res Life for all the mentors and friends I've gained from being a RA. Thanks for a great 4 years UWL!
I would like to thank my parents and my roommates for their support. It was wonderful learning from and working for the Economics department at UW-La Crosse.
I couldn't be here today without the support of the Women's, Gender, Sexuality Studies Department--specifically from my advisor, Dr. Khan. Thank you so much for all the support you have given me the past four years, I have grown so much because of you. Thank you to my parents, my sister, my gramma, and all my wonderful aunts, uncles, and cousins. Thank you all for always encouraging me to follow my heart and speak my truth--even when it was uncomfortable or hard to do. To all the amazing people I have had the privilege to meet at UWL: I wish you all the best in your journeys. Cheers!
As an English major, you might expect me to write something beautiful and inspirational but I think I've earned my write to be short and sweet (haha "write" get it??) Soo all I have to say is WOOO WE'RE COLLEGE GRADS!!!! (To all my profs: You have led me to my passions and for that, I can't thank you enough)
This is kind of crazy....everything that is going on and we are graduating! I think we have all felt our ups and downs about this but I also think we will come out a stronger generation for it. Thank you to my family for always supporting me and professors like Dr. Bakken, Dr. Kruse, Dr. Strom and Dr. Erickson for pushing me and inspiring me to be the best I can. I hope we can all move forward from this and keep all the positive memories from our years at this University! Congrats class of 2020, we made it!!

My time and experienced made at UW-L will never be forgotten. This campus and city will always hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for all the great memories!
Thank you to everyone that has helped me on this journey. For every sassy moment, yellow car, and Scooby- Doo reference, I wouldn't change any of it for the world!
There are so many people I want to thank who helped me over the last two years. Thank you to the UWL SAA faculty, my cohort members, and other SAA students for teaching me and learning with me. Thank you to Emily Ascher and the entire Memorial Student Center Staff at UW-Stout for guiding me and being such an incredible group to work with and learn from. Thank you to my entire family, Tim Hankes, and the Hankes family for all of the love and support! All of you have played a role in my experience and I would not be here without you.
Blessed to have had the opportunity of attending the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse for the past four years. Although my time in the city was cut short, nothing can take away the memories made, the friendships created and the education acquired. Thank you Mom and Dad for always being my number 1 supporters when it came to following my dreams. To my fellow peers, keep striving to be the best versions of yourself and aiming to make the world a better place. Signing off, Chantal.

After having failed out of college with undiagnosed PTSD in 1998, I am so proud to be finally graduating from UWL! This is a moment I’ve been wishing for my whole adult life. I could not have done it without the support of my parents, husband, and two children. Thank you!
UWL helped me develop into someone I am proud to be. Thank you to all my friends who made my experience great, my professors who guided me, and my family for always supporting me. From what I have learned, I would say it is important to challenge yourself, and always set goals farther away than you would expect, you will never stop growing. This is dedicated to my dog Molly; yes she is taking over where my picture should be, but she deserves it.
I could not have done this without the love and support of my friends and family. They believed in me when I didn't believe in myself at times. I also want to thank my incredible professors for caring and providing me with an excellent education. Some of my happiest days and fondest memories were made between the bluffs and the river. This city & university will always have a place in my heart.
Thank you to all the fantastic professors that made learning easy and more importantly fun. I'd like to personally thank Dr. Shelley Hay, Dr. Jonathan Borja, and Dr. Jeff Erickson for pushing me to my full potential, all the while being great people to have a conversation with no matter what I was ranting on about on a particular day. My love goes out to the fantastic music department and all of the staff and students there, it rarely feels like school work when you're always around friends who feel like family. It was my dream to graduate from UW-La Crosse since 2011 and I'm glad I did.
I am so thankful for all the opportunities I received from both the art department and the archaeology department. I learned from brilliant professors in both majors who helped me reach heights I never imagined possible. The studios were as welcoming to me as a home, and I spent more time there than in any apartment or dorm. Most of all, I wouldn't be here without my family. Thank you for all your support.
To UWL — Thank you for giving me knowledge and experience. I hope to use it well. To my family — Thank you for supporting me in all I do. You’re always there when I need you, and I hope to be there in kind. Lastly, to David & Marilyn Karlgaard — Thank you for everything. I could’ve never finished school without you. You’ve given me the chance to live my best life, free of debt, degree in hand, able to make a living of my own choosing. It is an opportunity given to a lucky few, and thanks to your generosity, I am now among them. I am forever grateful. I hope to do you and everybody proud.
Thank you for the experience, Epstein didn't kill himself.
Through all of my ups and downs over the last few years, I am so incredibly proud to be where I am today. I have learned so much about myself as both an individual and an artist through my college career and I am so excited to see what life has in store for me next. Thank you to my family and friends for all of your continued support, and a special thank you goes out to my mom, for always being my biggest fan, and I know she is smiling down at me and is so proud of what I have accomplished.
I'm kind of in shock, college went by so quickly and I would be remiss no to thank my professors, especially Mandy Kolbe, Dewayne Wrencher, Mary Anderson, Greg Parameter and Dr. J, without you I wouldn't be in the place that I am. I am a better human, student and worker now than I was three years ago when I got here and it is large in part to you. To my parents who took every opportunity to support me and wholeheartedly encouraged me to do and be who I am. And my best friend Sydney, I don't know if I would have gotten through it with out you. Last Gretchen Reindeers, thank you, deeply.
My time at UWL has played an important role in personal growth, lifelong friendships, and the inspiration to pursue a graduate degree in graphic design. There are few words that can describe how much I appreciate the opportunities I have been given and the support of my family, friends, and teachers along the way. I am especially grateful for my parents, who have offered their constant encouragement and love. This chapter may not have ended how I had imagined, but I will treasure the memories that were made throughout the years.
To and all of the faculty members of the UWL Theatre Department, you all have taught me not only the skills necessary for success in our field, but also how to work, collaborate, and learn from one another despite any differences. You all are excellent professors, mentors, and friends. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. To my friends and family, I could not have gotten through the past 4 years without you all. Thank you for being a source of so many of my fondest memories in college and for encouraging me to strive for greatness.

I will forever cherish the memories I made at UWL and I am looking forward to see where life takes me next!
College is a funny place. You come here thinking that it's going to be this huge change. The simple truth of it is college is that it is one big test. It doesn't change who you are but helps to fail and learn and grow. The most important thing I can tell people going in is focus on the present, if I can get a degree in four years so can you. There will always be time to worry about tomorrow but remember tonight wont stick around. Don't fear failure, embrace it. Learn as much about yourself as your major. Marketing is what inspired me, find what inspires you and run with it.
Thank you mom and dad for always encouraging me to chase my dreams, no matter how big! Your love and support has helped me graduate on the deans list and aided in my decision to sit for my CPA in the near future. To all my UWL friends, thank you for making these past four years so memorable. I have loved getting to know all of you and can't wait to see what your future's bring!! Keep in touch and H.A.G.S!

Thanks Mom, Dad, Grandma Jean, Grandpa Mike and all other family/friends who made me feel loved and supported throughout all four years at UWL. Initially upon arriving at UWL, I was not very excited to be here as it was not my first option nor one that I had really known anything about prior to attending. Throughout my four years, UWL quickly became one of my favorite places to be and my first "second home." Although we didn't get the closure we may have wished for, I will find comfort in staying connected with my lifelong friends made the past four years!

Remember, life is what you make of it so make it a party!

Global Warming. No, it is not a myth, it is a scientifically verified fact. If nothing is done NOW, the year 2040 will look something close to apocalyptic. However, don't lose hope, there will always be truth and right. In ways we cannot predict, life will prevail. Understand your significance, and the difference you make on the world. Through dark times, only united, can we overcome.
I am lucky to have spent the past four years in La Crosse going to school and making memories with friends. UWL provided me with the education I needed to get my first job at Kohler Co. as an Accounting Analyst starting in June. La Crosse will always feel like home to me so I am sad to leave the city and campus behind, but I am ready for this next chapter!
As I reflect on my time at UWL I would just like to say how thankful I was for all of the opportunities that this campus has given me. I would like to thank my friends and family for all your love and support throughout my college career; I would not be here without you. Additionally, thank you to those professors who have also helped direct my path. I am blessed to have attended UW-La Crosse and acquired the skills and knowledge I need to be successful in my career. As I move on in life, I am encouraged to continue my hard work, and I am guided by the Bible verse Romans 12:2, which serves as good advice to each of us, "Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
Thanks to my family, friends, and all of my professors who made the last four years great!
I cannot thank my parents, Robin & Cindy Miller, enough for supporting me during the good & bad moments. All of my life, I have lived in La Crosse & I'm thankful for how great of a place it was to grow up in. There's a lot of uncertainty right now, but I believe we'll all prevail if we continue to listen to our healthcare professionals. Especially with the current situation, as a management student, I have learned to just be the "supervisor" (kidding, of course). Thank you to my family, Sara, Evan, Kendal, Culver's, Dairyland Power Co-op, BSA, & UWL for making the last 4 years a wild ride!
I'd like to thank my family, friends, and people throughout UWL that have helped me every step of the way. I'd especially like to thank Sarah Joslyn for allowing me to become and Eagle Guide and get more involved on campus, as well as Nilakshi Borah for being an incredible academic advisor and professor. I am forever grateful for the lifelong friendships and memories UWL has provided for me.
Thank You UWL for an amazing four years! UWL has brought me life long friends and so many memories that I will cherish forever (:

It’s been a long road with plenty of procrastination and all-nighters, but it was worth it in the end. I want to thank my family, friends, and professors for their support and encouragement. You have prepared me for the future, and I am excited to see where it takes me.

Thanks dad, mom, Deb, Grant and Tim for all your support and help! It has been such an amazing 5 years! I'm going to miss all the members of Alpha Xi Delta (TFJ to all of you)! Being a part of Greek Life was such a life changing experience and helped me make so many connections and friends! I'm going to miss La Crosse and going on hikes on the bluff. However, I'm so excited to see where life takes me next! Congrats to all the grads!
Should’ve walked under the clock tower to stay longer. Will truly miss this wonderful place.

Studying abroad, being the treasurer of the UWL Water Ski Team, and working on campus has brought me friends, passion, confidence, and lifechanging experiences. Thank you to my family and friends for always supporting and encouraging me. I will be attending law school at the University of Chicago John Marshall in the fall.

The last four years at UWL were better than I could have ever imagined. I have to thank my family, friends, and professors who continuously pushed me outside of my comfort zone because that is where I truly learned who I was and where I wanted to go. La Crosse will always have a place in my heart and I am lucky to have called it home. Good luck to all the graduates in your next adventures. This semester did not end like any of us had intended but it is still a major milestone to celebrate. No one will ever forget the Class of 2020, the ones who graduated during a pandemic.

5 Years. 5 years of long nights in Murphy Library, scraped knees from rollerblading La Crosse, and belly-aches from laughs with friends at all hours of the day. UWL, although not the first university I attended, was one that met me with unparalleled staff support, lifelong friends, and the ability to see my parents every Sunday for dinner. With the help and guidance from these people and my favorite sailor, I am able to stand, well technically sit, here today proud of what I’ve accomplished, confident in my abilities, and excited to take on the world of education. THANK YOU.
I'd like to thank my family and all my friends for their continuous support throughout my college career.
Special thanks to my wife for being so supportive and understanding during this long, incredible journey. I also couldn't have achieved this without the support of my DPT friends. You were essential for late night study sessions, visits to kwik trip, or a needed distraction.
