Contract and application process

Welcome to the housing contract and application process for 2020-21.

Step 1: Confirm your admission and enrollment at UWL

In order to live in the residence halls, you MUST be a full-time student at UWL. If you are unsure of your admission status, please check with the UWL Admissions Office. You will need to pay the $100 enrollment deposit. After 48 hours, you will be able to access the housing contract and application.

Step 2: Learn about the UWL residence halls

Please take a look at the residence hall information on our website to learn about the similarities and differences of our residence halls. Review the room rates.

Step 3: Complete your housing contract and application

Follow these instructions to begin your housing contract and application:

  • Go to the housing portal and log in using your UWL username and password
  • Select "Housing Application" on the maroon navigation bar
  • Review and agree to the housing contract terms and conditions
  • Pay the $150 housing deposit
  • Review your application & submit

Contract cancellations prior to May 1, 2020 will receive a full refund of the $150 deposit. Cancellations made prior to May 1 do not need to go through a formal cancellation process.

After May 1, the entire $150 deposit will be forfeited.  If a new incoming student decides to no longer attend UWL their housing contract will be cancelled after notifying the Admissions Office.

This is a legally binding contract that cannot be cancelled without penalty after May 1, 2020 if you attend UW-La Crosse during the academic year 2020-21.  Section 1.C of the housing contract notes the specific criteria for contract cancellation release after May 1.

Step 4: Update your application

You may update your application to change residence hall preferences and roommate preferences by returning to the housing portal.

This will not affect your original completed contract and application date.

The 2020-21 Roommate Selection process for students new to UWL will open on January 15, 2020.  All students who have applied for 2020-21 housing prior to this date will receive a reminder ahead of time about the Roommate Selection process opening.  Roommate Selection will be hosted on the housing portal as well.

Step 5: Housing assignments

Housing assignments will be sent out by email in June. They will include room and roommate assignments. Assignments are prioritized based on completed contract and application dates.

If you have questions, please email the Office of Residence Life or call 608.785.8075.

Eagle Hall room rates expanding section

Important:

Eagle Hall rooms are extended housing and accommodate three students due to the demand for on-campus housing. Students who live in an Eagle room with two other people have their normal room rate reduced each semester. If a room has only 2 people in it, the housing rate will be adjusted to the normal double room rate for each student. (This also applies to rooms with two people who go down to one person occupying that space.) Please see specific room rates. This will be prorated based on the date of the occupancy change.

Follow these instructions to begin your housing contract and application:

  • Go to the housing portal and log in using your UWL username and password
  • Select "Contract/Application" on the maroon navigation bar
  • Select the Summer 2019 term
