Winter Break Housing

Winter break housing is available to students who have active full-year 2023-24 housing contracts. All residence halls remain open over winter break and students can stay in their same residence hall room. Be sure to sign-up for winter break housing on the housing portal.
Winter Break Services:
There are limited services available in the residence halls and on campus over winter break. These services are subject to change. If changes occur, students who have signed up for winter break housing will be emailed updated service information. Please review the following information:
Card Access: If you signed up for break housing, your ID card will provide you access to your residence hall. Residence hall exterior doors will remain locked during the break. You may enter your residence hall through only the front door by swiping your student ID. All residence hall side doors will remain locked during the break.
Kitchens: Residence hall kitchens will be open and available to residents during break. All food and kitchen supplies should be stored in personal refrigerators and rooms. Do not leave items in the kitchen.
Public Transportation: Visit the La Crosse Municipal Transit website for information on city bus schedules and routes.
Eagle Mail Center and front desk hours:
December 20, 2023 at 4 p.m.: Eagle Mail Center closes and reopens for limited hours starting on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
December 20, 2023: Front desks close at 10 p.m.
December 21, 2023 - January 15, 2024: All residence hall front desks are closed.
January 16-19, 2024: All residence hall front desks will be open daily from noon to 10 p.m.
January 20, 2024: Winter break concludes. Regular desk hours resume.
Staffing:
Residence Life staff will conduct daily rounds in all residence halls throughout winter break.
The Office of Residence Life will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office will be closed December 22 through January 1. You can call 608.785.8075 or email housing@uwlax.edu.
Emergencies: For more urgent matters or emergencies, contact University Police Dispatch at 608.789.9000.

Residence Hall Policies:
The 2023-24 housing contract terms and conditions apply to Winter Break housing. You have already agreed to this contract as part of your original housing application, however it is recommended that you review the contract prior to signing up for break housing.
As part of the housing contract, you also agree to live by the Residence Life and UWL policies and procedures. These policies remain in effect over winter break.
