SSS News!

Introducing our new advisor, Nate Emerson!

Nate is joining the SSS team here at UWL after a distinguished career at Southeast Tech in Winona, MN, including most recently as Vice President of Student Affairs. As SSS advisor and Student Success Specialist, Nate will provide academic, career, personal and financial advising to SSS participants, maintain student records as related to academic advising and assessment of the TRIO programs, and support orientation/training sessions for SSS.

Nate looks forward to meeting everyone in the fall. He'll be jumping right in and taking appointments starting the first week of classes, so stop in and say hello! Please join us in welcoming him to UWL and the SSS team.

In other news, we're also excited to introduce our new graduate intern, Makayla Newberry. Makayla is about to begin her second year in the SSA graduate program here at UWL, and we're thrilled to have her. Among other duties, Makayla will be holding walk-in advising hours, assisting with the facilitation of workshops, and co-advising the SSS Leadership Council. Keep an eye out for Makayla's schedule.

And finally, we're so happy to announce a collaborative effort with the Financial Aid office to provide SSS students with one-on-one financial advising and counseling. Starting September 12, 2017, Ka Lia Smith from Financial Aid will be available in the SSS offices every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM for one-on-one meetings with all SSS-enrolled students. Bring all your questions and concerns about student bills, financial aid, loan repayment, etc., and Ka Lia will lend her invaluable expertise to help you out. Stay tuned for more information about this wonderful new service!
