Teaching English in Puerto Rico (Winter)
The UW-La Crosse School of Education partners with Interamericana University of Puerto Rico, San German campus, for this experience. Teacher candidates complete their TESOL Field requirements during this time at local elementary and secondary schools in San German, Puerto Rico
Designed as an intensive, hands-on experience, students are immersed in Puerto Rican culture and schools. It includes a full-day placement in a primary or secondary school English language classroom.
Special Considerations:
- This program is required for EME/TSL and ENG/TSL majors.
- This program is optional for SPA/TSL, FRE/TSL, and TSL minor.
- Students may be eligible to receive scholarships.
Courses Included:
- TSL 460 (TESOL field)
Application & Selection Process
- Acceptance to this is tied to the program major/minor, as well as through the International Education and Engagement.
- Students should indicate their interest by starting the IEE application by May 1 of the year preceding the experience.
- Students should complete the application by September 15th.
- Students should commit to the program by October 1st.
