Special Education Exploration in Luxembourg (Summer)
The UW-La Crosse School of Education partners with Lënster Lycée International School in Luxembourg, Europe for this experience. Teacher candidates complete their Special Education Field requirements and coursework in the summer before they complete their student teaching semester.
Designed as an intensive four-week, hands-on experience, students live and teach in Junglinster, Luxembourg first, and complete online coursework afterward. Teacher candidates stay with host families during their time there.
Special Considerations:
It is likely that participating in this experience will advance your time to degree. Be sure to check with your advisor about your options.
Students may be eligible to receive scholarships.
Courses Included:
- SPE 465 (Advanced Practices for Students with Challenging Behaviors in an International Setting)
- SPE 425 ( Advanced Practices for Students with Challenging Behaviors in an International Setting)
- SPE 435 (Methods in Cross-Categorical Special Education in Luxembourg)
- SPE 452 (Online asynchronous later in summer, Assessment in Special Education)
Application & Selection Process
- Students should indicate interest by starting the IEE application by May 1 of the year prior to the experience.
- Students should complete the application by September 15th.
- Students should commit to the program by December 1st.
