Collections

The Alice Hagar Curriculum Center supports the education curriculum of the School of Education and any children's and young adult literature courses taught at the UWL. Priority is given to materials which most directly support course work preparing students to meet requirements of education degrees and credentials. The collection development policy is coordinated with the main library's collection development policy and mission of service.

In conjunction with UWL's mission of inclusivity, the center provides a growing multicultural collection that reflects the values of cultural diversity and promotes respect and appreciation for all cultures, perspectives and the global community.

Items found in the Curriculum Resource Center

  • children's and young adult literature in both fiction and nonfiction
  • current and older textbook series from major publishers
  • professional books with related curriculum materials
  • kits, maps, games, puppets, and big books
  • Links to educational databases and recommended websites can be found on the Educational Subject Guide web page

Items are regularly withdrawn based on current library policies to be donated, recycled, discarded or placed in the book sale collection. Older items of historical or research value may be kept if space and budgets allow. Only donations that meet selection criteria of the Curriculum Center development policy will be accepted. Materials with multiple components will be accepted only if complete.
