Jennifer and Mike Hansen CBA Excellence in Research Award is a prestigious recognition given to faculty members who have made significant contributions to the field of research within their respective academic institutions. 2025 Jennifer and Mike Hansen CBA Excellence in Research Recipient - Elizabeth Crosby
Dr. Elizabeth (Beth) Crosby is an Associate Professor of Marketing. Her research focuses on stigma, consumer well-being, and marketplace access. A unifying thread in her research is the belief that marketing can — and should — contribute to the social good. Dr. Crosby’s research has been published in high quality journals such as Journal of Consumer Affairs, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, and International Journal of Market Research. Most recently she published “Hijacked, Blindfolded, and Handcuffed: Navigating the Turbulent Consumer Journey for Mental Illness Treatment Services” in Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. Her work has been presented at marketing conferences where it has won multiple awards. She has served as a reviewer for multiple journals and was a guest editor of a special issue for the Journal of Consumer Marketing focusing on mental health and marketing.
Dr. Crosby earned her undergraduate degrees in Marketing and Economics from the University of Maine, her MBA from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, and her PhD in marketing from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She came to UWL in Fall 2012 and primarily teaches courses in consumer behavior and international marketing.

2025 Jennifer and Mike Hansen CBA Excellence in Teaching Award Recipient - James Murray
Professor Murray has been teaching in the Economics Department at UW-La Crosse since Fall 2009. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (class of 2000) and went on to earn a Master's Degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in economics from Indiana University. At UWL, he has taught courses in macroeconomics, money and banking, econometrics, and data analysis for business. His ongoing research focuses on the macroeconomic impacts of fiscal and monetary policy and best practices for teaching undergraduate economics. He says his favorite part of teaching is using the purple dry-erase marker, because he saves that color marker for the most exciting insights in macroeconomics.

2025 Jennifer and Mike Hansen CBA Excellence in Service Award Recipient - Kelly Nowicki
Kelly Nowicki is a faculty member in the Management Department, where she teaches Organizational Behavior, Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, and the Business Sustainability Capstone. Her teaching is complemented by extensive service at the departmental, college, university, and community levels.
At the departmental level, Kelly contributes to curriculum development through long-term service on the Curriculum & Planning Committee and chairs the Sustainable Business Minor Taskforce. She also advises Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity. At the university level, she serves on the Community Engagement Council, served for six years on the Joint Planning and Budget Committee, and was a member of the UWL Chancellor’s Search and Screen Committee, contributing to leadership selection that shapes the university’s future.
Kelly has also demonstrated long-term dedication to UW–La Crosse, having served in leadership roles on the Board of Directors for the UWL Alumni Association and through service on the UWL Foundation Board prior to their merger.
Drawing on prior industry experience in consulting and business development, Kelly brings a practical lens to her service and teaching. Her background supports her leadership in regional initiatives like The Women’s Fund of Greater La Crosse, where she recently served as Board Chair, and informs her work with professional organizations focused on sustainability and entrepreneurship. Active in both professional and community circles, Kelly’s service reflects a strong commitment to education, sustainability, and civic engagement.

2025 Jennifer and Mike Hansen CBA Dean’s Impact Award Recipient– Adam Stivers
Dr. Adam Stivers is an Associate Professor of Finance who joined UWL in 2016. He currently serves as the Finance department chair and co-director of the Menard Family Initiative (MFI). He received his Ph.D. in Finance from McMaster University in Canada and received his B.S. and M.A. in Economics from West Virginia University. His research interests include behavioral and experimental finance and economics, asset pricing, forecasting, financial education, entrepreneurship, and political economy. He has taught courses on Principles of Investment, Financial Planning, and Security Analysis and Portfolio Management.
Dr. Stivers’ research has been published in leading finance and economics journals such as Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Finance, International Review of Financial Analysis, Small Business Economics, and Kyklos. He has also mentored several undergraduate research projects and presentations. He has received several UWL and CBA faculty research grants and recently received a WiSys Spark grant. He has served on Academic Policies and Standards, Research & Grants, and Promotion, Tenure, and Salary committees at the university level.

2025 Jennifer and Mike Hansen CBA Staff Excellence Award Recipient- Erin Flottmeyer
Erin Flottmeyer is the Academic Advising Manager in the College of Business Dean’s Office, where she collaborates with a team dedicated to supporting student success through effective academic planning and guidance. Erin has been with UWL since 2017, previously serving as a Pre-Health Advisor. Her approach to advising is student-centered, focused on empowering individuals to make informed decisions.
Before joining UWL, Erin worked at Viterbo University as an academic advisor, supporting students pursuing nursing. Her professional background is rooted in education, with experience that spans both teaching and academic advising. She continually seeks ways to improve advising practices to meet the evolving needs of the College of Business and today’s college students.
Erin earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education and has a passion for mentorship, the advising-as-teaching model, and fostering collaborative relationships. In her current role, she enjoys mentoring fellow advisors and implementing strategies that efficiently utilize staff time while enhancing the student advising experience. Erin is committed to helping students reach their full potential while also having a great time with her CBA colleagues.
