Open Recreation
Open Recreation is an opportunity for students and members to engage in a variety of unstructured recreational activities. Some of these opportunities include basketball, volleyball, soccer, racquetball, pickleball, table tennis and wallyball.
Equipment Check Out
The following items may be checked out from the REC Info Counter with a valid ID or use of the Rec Sports App barcode:
- Basketballs (Full and Intermediate)
- Volleyballs
- Pickleball Paddles/Balls/Nets
- Wallyball Equipment
- Racquetball Racquets/Balls
- Badminton Racquetballs/Birdies
- Table Tennis Paddles/Balls
All equipment must stay within the facility and be returned to the Info Counter when finished. If items are not returned by the end of the day, a replacement fee will be charged.
If a net needs to be set up (volleyball, wallyball, pickleball), please ask the staff at the Info Counter and they will assist you. All net requests must be made at minimum, one hour prior to the facility closing. Any requests after this time will not be accepted.
Facility Spaces
The following spaces are available for Open Recreation on a first come, first served basis. Advance reservations may also be made for Open Recreation use. All spaces listed below can be reserved except for the Hardwood Courts. Please refer to our Reservation Policies for further information.
- Multipurpose Room (MPR)
- Racquetball Court
- Aerobics Room
- Multiactivity Courts (MAC)
- Indoor Track
- Hardwood Courts
- A volleyball net will always be set-up on Court 4 during operating hours when Rec Sport programming is not scheduled. For those who are interested in playing volleyball should use this space first before any additional nets will be set-up.
Facility Schedule
Facility calendars are available for you to view when spaces are open. Visit the Facility Schedule page and select the calendar for the respective space you want to use, then select “View Facility in Calendar”. All prior reservations for each space are labeled and appear in a different color indicating the space is not available. Drop in use (no prior reservation) will not appear on the calendars.
Hetzel Fieldhouse
In addition to the REC, Open Recreation is available at the Hetzel Fieldhouse the following days and times during the academic year:
- Sundays: 6pm-10pm
- Mondays: 6pm-10pm
