Mindfulness @ UWL
UWL Counseling & Testing, Wellness & Health Advocacy & Rec Sports have teamed up to provide non-credit Intro to Mindfulness courses to the campus community! UWL Intro to Mindfulness courses use curriculum designed by the Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults (MIEA) , formally known as Koru Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is simple, but not easy! Our four week Intro to Mindfulness is an introductory class that will teach you the skill of mindfulness. It will also help you build the habit of using it in your life on a regular basis. Positive outcomes include:
- Less self judgment
- Manage stress
- Increased self-compassion
- Better sleep
- Increased calm
Quotes from Past Participants
- "I am very grateful I took this class, and I am excited to implement these skills into my everyday life!"
- "I have always struggled with feeling present and felt alone in that and didn’t know if others struggled with it too. I learned others share this feeling in class and it was nice to hear I was the only one. Having these tools to use now is very meaningful to me."
- "Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to teach us something very meaningful and valuable."
- "The part of the class that was most meaningful was doing mindfulness in community with others and having a collective goal"
- "I really loved practicing elements of mindfulness during the class. Listening to [my facilitator] was very relaxing and encouraged me to engage in mindfulness"

Before the first class and between classes, students are expected to complete assigned readings and log their mindfulness practices in the MIEA App.
